Flutterwave, a Nigerian fintech company, has become the latest unicorn in Africa after raising $170 million in Series C funding. The investment round was led by US private equity firm Avenir Growth Capital and also saw participation from new and existing investors, including Tiger Global, DST Global, and Greycroft. Flutterwave provides payment infrastructure for businesses to make and receive payments across Africa and beyond. The latest funding will be used to accelerate Flutterwave’s expansion into new markets, develop new products, and hire more talent.
