LAGOS, NIGERIA — New Horizons Nigeria, the country’s largest tech training and capacity-building institution, has been named the Most Innovative IT Training and Certification Solution Brand of the Year at the 2025 African Brand Innovators Summit (AFRIBIS), held in Lagos.
The prestigious award recognises the company’s two-decade legacy in developing globally competitive digital talent and expanding inclusive access to technology education across Nigeria.
In its award citation, AFRIBIS commended New Horizons Nigeria for its “robust, hands-on training content and its strategic efforts to connect trainees with real-world opportunities through internship placements.” The summit organisers described the company’s education delivery model as a “continental benchmark for practical, impactful ICT training.”
A Milestone in Inclusive Digital Transformation
Responding to the honour, Tim Akano, Managing Director of New Horizons Nigeria, said the award validates the company’s commitment to equipping young Africans with globally relevant tech skills.
“Our mission is to equip the next generation of African leaders with transformative tech competencies that not only boost their competitiveness but also position them as drivers of innovation globally,” said Akano.
Operating under the global New Horizons International franchise—active in over 90 countries—New Horizons Nigeria has directly impacted over two million Nigerian youths since its inception. The firm currently trains and certifies more than 100,000 students annually in top-demand areas such as:

Beyond traditional education pipelines, the company is also notable for its strong inclusion agenda. It offers 50–100% scholarships to over 20,000 students every year, with a focus on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and students in underserved regions.
A Model for African Tech Capacity Building
Akano emphasised that closing the digital skills gap remains central to New Horizons Nigeria’s mission.
“From day one, our goal has been to bridge the digital divide and create real opportunities for Africans to compete at the highest levels of the global tech economy,” he said.
The AFRIBIS award marks yet another milestone for the training giant, which has collected nearly 300 awards in technology and youth empowerment initiatives since its founding.
As digital transformation continues to redefine economies across Africa, New Horizons Nigeria is positioning itself not just as a training provider, but as a national catalyst for sustainable development and innovation.
