The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has upgraded its Diaspora National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment platform in a bid to improve service delivery and streamline enrolment for Nigerians living overseas.
The new system, according to the Commission, offers a more seamless, robust, and secure process, ensuring that Nigerians in the Diaspora can access NIN services with the same efficiency as citizens in Nigeria.
As part of the upgrade, NIMC Diaspora Front-End Partners (FEPs) have been onboarded onto the enhanced platform and provided with intensive training to ensure effective application and management.
“This upgrade is a critical step towards providing our Diaspora community with reliable and efficient access to NIN services,” said Kayode Adegoke, NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications. “We are committed to ensuring that Nigerians abroad enjoy the same quality of service as those within the country.”
All Diaspora FEPs are required to obtain and activate their enrolment licences on the upgraded platform within 48 hours, with applicants now able to register through compliant service providers.
NIMC apologised for any inconvenience caused during the transition and has set up a dedicated support team to handle any Diaspora-related issues. Nigerians facing difficulties are advised to contact the Commission at nimccustomercare@nimc.gov.ng for prompt assistance.
Meanwhile, NIN enrolment within Nigeria is ongoing at all approved centres. Applicants can locate their nearest centre via the NIMC website. Both local and overseas applicants can also make corrections to their NIN records through the self-service modification portal at https://selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.
Adegoke further encouraged all NIN holders to download the NIMC NINAuth App—available on iOS and Google Play—to instantly verify their NINs, manage who can access their personal information, and enjoy faster authentication services.
