Lamborghini Polo Storico has unveiled a fully restored 1972 Miura SV, returning the legendary supercar to its precise factory specification after an extensive three-year restoration process.
Far from a routine refurbishment, the project was grounded in meticulous historical research. Restoration experts relied on original production records, archival documentation, and factory data to ensure every component reflected the vehicle’s authentic 1972 configuration.
The Miura SV initially arrived in a non-original state, requiring careful correction. Exterior elements such as the front grilles, rear louvres, and other distinctive design features were reworked to meet factory standards. Smaller details, including the centre-lock wheels and exhaust tips, were also restored to their period-correct specifications, underscoring the programme’s commitment to authenticity.
Inside, the cabin was returned to its original layout and finish. Features like the hazard light system were reinstated, the steering wheel was revised to match factory design, and the correct trims and materials were carefully reapplied. The colour scheme stands out as a defining highlight of the restoration, with the car finished in “Luci del Bosco” brown and paired with a “Senape” interior—both combinations verified through historical records.
The Miura SV represents the final and most refined evolution of the Miura line, widely regarded as the world’s first modern supercar. By restoring this example to its original state, Lamborghini reinforces the model’s enduring significance—not only as a design milestone but also as a cornerstone of the brand’s heritage.
The restored vehicle was recently showcased at a prestigious concours event in Rome, displayed alongside other classic Lamborghini icons, including models from the Lamborghini Countach line and a Lamborghini Miura P400 noted for its cinematic history.
The project reflects the growing value placed on factory-backed restorations in the classic car market, where authenticity now commands as much respect as outright performance. For Lamborghini, the initiative represents more than nostalgia—it is a deliberate effort to preserve and protect the integrity of its most historically important models, ensuring they remain exactly as originally conceived.
