Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has rolled out an ambitious plan to make the state a digital economy hub through key collaborations with Data Science Nigeria, google.org, and Greysoft Technologies. Announced at a stakeholders’ meeting on the draft National Digital Economy and e-Governance Bill in Kaduna on Thursday, the initiative aims to train over 5,000 women across the state’s 23 local government areas under the “Arewa Ladies4Tech” program.
Governor Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Mrs. Patience Fakai, highlighted that the program is already empowering women with ICT skills, leading to local and international job placements. “This programme has already yielded remarkable outcomes, with participants securing employment locally and globally, working remotely from their homes,” he said.
Additionally, Sani introduced the AI4All project, which provides Hausa-language lessons on Artificial Intelligence, marking the first initiative of its kind in Africa. “AI4All provides short, accessible lessons on AI in Hausa, downloadable from the NITDA website and shareable via phone,” he noted.
Furthering its digital economy vision, the state has launched the AgricTech Hackathon in partnership with Greysoft Technologies, inviting young innovators to create tech solutions for the agricultural sector.
