He noted that biometrics, such as fingerprint and facial recognition, offer a higher level of security compared to traditional passwords. “Modern platforms like Yahoo and Gmail now incorporate biometric options to safeguard user accounts,” Akinpelu explained. “These technologies provide enhanced security while maintaining professional integrity.”

Akinpelu also recognized the essential role of national bodies and regulatory agencies in bolstering cybersecurity. He commended the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for its robust cybersecurity framework, which aligns with best practices and international standards. “The CBN’s framework is regularly reviewed and updated to address new threats and technological advancements. This proactive stance is crucial for defending against evolving cyber risks,” he added.
