Gamers are facing crashes and freezing issues with several Ubisoft titles after upgrading to Windows 11 24H2. Microsoft has blocked the update on systems with games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and more, as players report trouble launching the games, loading saves, or experiencing black screens.
The problem isn’t new—users have been reporting crashes for nearly four months during the preview phase of Windows 11 24H2. Yet, it took until recently for Microsoft to acknowledge the issue. Some suspect the problem is linked to Denuvo’s DRM or a file called NTDLL.DLL, which may indicate a deeper Windows-related issue rather than a gaming-specific one.
As a temporary workaround, Microsoft has suggested manually ending the game’s process via Task Manager, though many are frustrated with the inconvenience. Ubisoft has released a hotfix for Star Wars Outlaws, but further solutions are expected in the works.
The situation highlights concerns about the stability of Windows 11 24H2, with some gamers lamenting the departure of Windows 10 as support nears its end next year.
