Verteil Technologies has launched an advanced platform enabling travel sellers to directly connect with airlines through the International Air Transport Association (IATA) New Distribution Capability (NDC) technology.
The unveiling event, held on Saturday, attracted over 85 industry stakeholders, including travel agencies, airline representatives, and aviation associations, highlighting the growing interest in innovative airline distribution methods.
Driving Cost Efficiency and Retail Transformation
Speaking at the event, Satheesh Satchit, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Verteil Technologies, emphasized that the technology—already adopted by major airlines—will help lower distribution costs while offering a more retail-driven approach to airline sales.
“The technology that Verteil provides helps airlines to achieve two goals. Airlines can distribute their products and services to travel sellers across the globe through Verteil at a much lower cost,” Satchit stated.
“Distribution costs are the third-largest expense for airlines, after fuel and staff costs. This platform significantly reduces these expenses while improving access for travel sellers.”
Beyond cost savings, the NDC-based platform enables airlines to move beyond simply selling flight seats, allowing them to market a range of additional services and ancillaries.
“Today, airlines primarily sell seats. With this technology, they can offer everything from hotel bookings, car rentals, meals, Wi-Fi vouchers, lounge access, and more,” Satchit explained.
Transforming Airline Retailing with NDC
Verteil Technologies operates as a fully IATA-certified NDC aggregator, ensuring seamless implementation of NDC standards developed by IATA since 2012.
“This initiative was launched to tackle high distribution costs,” Satchit noted. “Technology companies like ours have built solutions based on IATA’s NDC API XML standard, making airline retailing more efficient and dynamic.”
Expanding into the Nigerian Market
Recognizing Nigeria as a key market, Verteil Technologies expressed its commitment to working with Nigeria-based airlines and travel agencies to enhance airline distribution channels.
“Verteil is invested in ensuring NDC-based technology is accessible for Nigerian travel sellers, with a local sales and account management team dedicated to providing direct support,” Satchit added.
The event also celebrated leading travel sellers in Nigeria for their early adoption of Verteil’s NDC technology, reinforcing the country’s role in driving innovation within the aviation industry.
A New Era in Airline Distribution
With Verteil’s cutting-edge platform, Nigerian travel agencies are at the forefront of transforming airline product retailing, leveraging cost efficiency, advanced technology, and expanded service offerings.
The platform’s introduction marks a significant shift in the airline industry, as more stakeholders embrace modern distribution strategies that improve efficiency and enhance customer experiences.
