April 8, 2025 – London — Consumers in the market for a premium OLED television may find a compelling opportunity this week, as British retailer Sevenoaks Sound and Vision has slashed the price of the 55-inch Sony A95L QD-OLED TV by £1050. The set is now retailing for £1949, down from its original price of £2999.
The discount is available exclusively through Sevenoaks’ Rewards scheme, which is free to join and requires only a brief sign-up.
The Sony A95L, widely regarded as one of the highest-performing OLED TVs currently on the market, has received widespread acclaim for its picture fidelity, colour accuracy, and audio clarity. Though the price cut does not mark the lowest point the set has ever reached, it brings one of Sony’s flagship models into a more competitive price bracket, particularly for home cinema enthusiasts and next-generation gamers.
While reviewers have primarily tested the 65-inch variant of the A95L, the 55-inch version shares nearly identical specifications. The QD-OLED panel, powered by Sony’s Cognitive Processor XR, delivers high dynamic range visuals, deep contrast, and enhanced peak brightness. The TV supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and IMAX Enhanced certifications.
Gaming functionality is also a key draw. The A95L includes two HDMI 2.1 ports (one doubling as eARC), which support 4K at 120Hz, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). It is also the first Sony TV to include Dolby Vision Gaming, which enhances visual performance on compatible gaming consoles. However, the limited number of HDMI 2.1 ports may be a drawback for users with multiple gaming devices.
Despite its high-end specifications, one commonly cited criticism is the relatively limited HDMI 2.1 input availability — a factor that may affect users with more complex home entertainment setups.
Sony’s A95L QD-OLED line represents the pinnacle of the company’s consumer TV range, competing directly with premium offerings from LG and Samsung. The £1050 discount places the 55-inch model in a pricing category that could attract a broader range of buyers who may have previously been deterred by the cost.
Sevenoaks has not indicated how long the promotional pricing will last. The offer is available both online and in-store for UK customers who join the retailer’s loyalty programme.
