Enugu, April 22, 2025 — In a major boost to technology-driven entrepreneurship and youth empowerment in Enugu State, serial entrepreneur and founder of S Mobile Group, Kingsley Adonu, has announced plans to commission the S Mobile Tech Hub—an ambitious corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative designed to promote innovation, skills development, and job creation.
The initiative, according to Adonu, is a response to the growing demand for productive engagement among young people in the region, and a show of support for the economic transformation agenda of Governor Peter Mbah. The Tech Hub, he said, will play a central role in curbing youth restiveness and redirecting the creative energy of Enugu’s young population towards meaningful ventures, particularly in technology and innovation.
Adonu, who has built S Mobile Group into a multinational conglomerate with operations spanning telecommunications, oil and gas, real estate, hospitality, logistics, financial services, and more, described the Tech Hub as a strategic investment in the future of the South East. Under his leadership, the group maintains a strong footprint in countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, China, South Africa, and Canada, and is a key partner to MTN in Nigeria’s telecom industry.
He said the Tech Hub was inspired by Governor Mbah’s commitment to building a resilient and economically vibrant Enugu, noting that the governor’s policies resonate with the group’s vision of fostering a startup ecosystem capable of tackling poverty and unemployment.
“S Mobile Tech Hub is a vision to manifest our deliberate programmes toward building a dynamic and vibrant startup ecosystem in this region, beginning with Enugu State,” Adonu said. “It is also a demonstration of our support for the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, who has not minced words on his intent to build a resilient city where poverty is reduced to the barest minimum.”
He further noted that the hub would leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and robotics to drive its programmes, in alignment with global innovation trends.
Adonu explained that the facility will offer services aimed at supporting both emerging and existing businesses. These include high-speed internet access, shared and private office spaces, a fully equipped robotics training lab, and mentorship programmes to guide startups from ideation to execution.
“S Mobile Tech Hub is motivated by the desire to support quality projects with high developmental impact such as job creation and poverty alleviation,” he said. “We aim to enhance the socio-economic standard of young Nigerians by giving them the tools and environment to thrive.”
The project, he added, reflects the group’s long-term commitment to sustainable development and the belief that tech-driven enterprise is central to building a prosperous and inclusive economy in Nigeria.
As construction progresses, expectations are high that the hub will become a transformative space for Enugu’s aspiring tech entrepreneurs and a catalyst for regional innovation.
