Airtel Nigeria has rolled out a companywide hepatitis awareness and vaccination campaign to commemorate World Hepatitis Day, reaffirming its commitment to employee wellness and public health advocacy.
The initiative, carried out in collaboration with Leadway Health, featured a comprehensive health talk across Airtel offices nationwide under the theme: “Healthy Habits, Healthy Liver: Ending Hepatitis Starts with You!”
The campaign’s central message focused on early detection, prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices that reduce the risk of hepatitis and promote liver health. The session was led by Dr. Obioma Anomneze-Chima, a medical consultant, who emphasized the silent nature of the disease.
“Hepatitis doesn’t always announce itself; it creeps in quietly and can cause lifelong complications,” said Dr. Anomneze-Chima. “Conversations like this help us catch it before it catches us. I commend Airtel for prioritising employee health and giving them both knowledge and access to preventive care.”
Companywide Vaccination Rollout
To complement the awareness drive, Airtel provided free hepatitis vaccinations to employees across all its offices, making preventive care accessible and convenient.
Airtel Nigeria CEO, Mr. Dinesh Balsingh, said the campaign aligns with the company’s 2025 health and wellness agenda and reflects Airtel’s people-first philosophy.
“Our people are the heart of our organisation, and when they are healthy, they bring their best selves to work,” Balsingh stated. “We’re not just investing in employee performance; we’re investing in their complete well-being.”
A Culture of Care
Mrs. Adebimpe Ayo-Elias, Airtel Nigeria’s Director of Human Resources and Administration, said the initiative demonstrates Airtel’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and global health goals.
“This hepatitis campaign is a reminder that corporate responsibility goes beyond business metrics; it’s about actively participating in global health conversations and making a difference where it counts: among our people,” she said.
The hepatitis campaign is part of Airtel’s ongoing “Stay Aware, Get Tested, Vaccinated & Seek Treatment” programme, which also includes a robust Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support mental wellness, alongside other preventive health services.
With this effort, Airtel joins a growing list of Nigerian companies integrating health consciousness into corporate culture, while contributing to broader efforts to combat public health challenges nationwide.
