Logan Paul, a well-known social media influencer with a massive following, is facing allegations of profiting from misleading cryptocurrency promotions. The BBC uncovered evidence suggesting Paul may have promoted certain cryptocurrency investments without disclosing his financial interests, causing the prices of these assets to surge. The investigation links Paul to an anonymous crypto wallet that made significant profits, such as a $120,000 gain following a tweet by Paul in 2021, which appeared to influence the price of a meme coin.
Paul, who has a history of promoting risky meme coins like Elongate, Dink Doink, and others, faces legal scrutiny over his involvement in the CryptoZoo project. CryptoZoo, a failed venture marketed as an online game using NFTs (non-fungible tokens), attracted millions in investments but ultimately left many investors, like Rueben Tauk, who lost thousands of dollars, dissatisfied. Tauk, along with over 100 others, is part of a lawsuit accusing Paul of fraud and deceptive practices.
Paul’s legal team denies the allegations and suggests that any profits made were not connected to these promotions. He has also vowed to compensate some CryptoZoo investors. However, his involvement in these questionable crypto schemes and the subsequent lawsuit has damaged his reputation, leaving some fans feeling betrayed. Despite these controversies, Paul remains a popular figure, notably through his ventures in boxing, wrestling, and the Prime drink business.
