Carlo Acutis, a London-born teenager whose digital legacy continues to inspire, is set to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in April 2024. Acutis, who passed away from leukemia at the age of 15 in 2006, will become the first millennial to be granted sainthood. Pope Francis paved the way for his canonization earlier this year by confirming a second miracle attributed to him, solidifying his place in Catholic history.
Known as “God’s influencer,” Acutis earned the nickname for his pioneering work in combining faith with technology. He designed websites for his local parish and school, but it was his creation of a website documenting Eucharistic miracles worldwide that truly set him apart. The website, launched just days before his death, continues to educate people across the globe and serves as the foundation for an exhibition that has traveled internationally.
Beatified in 2020 after a Brazilian child was miraculously healed, Acutis’ second miracle came in 2024 when a university student in Florence was healed from life-threatening head trauma. His life, marked by both spiritual devotion and digital innovation, will be celebrated during the canonization ceremony in Assisi, Italy, in late April.
Acutis’ remarkable journey from tech-savvy teen to “patron saint of the internet” is a testament to the enduring power of faith, technology, and the miracles that transcend them.
