Washington, D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked controversy after posting a generative AI-created video on his Truth Social account, envisioning a transformed Gaza Strip as a luxury resort akin to the Gulf states. The video, which features bizarre and surreal imagery, promotes his idea of expelling 2.1 million Palestinians and replacing Gaza with a “Trump Gaza Riviera” under U.S. ownership.
AI-Generated Video: A Vision or a Provocation?
The video, set to an upbeat dance track, opens with barefoot Palestinian children walking through the rubble of Gaza, before transitioning to skyscrapers lining the coast under the banner, “What’s next?” The lyrics proclaim:
“Donald’s coming to set you free… Trump Gaza shining bright. Golden future, a brand-new light.”
The video also features a golden Trump statue, a hummus-eating Elon Musk, and a shirtless Benjamin Netanyahu alongside Trump, lounging on a beach while U.S. dollars rain down.
International Backlash Over “Expulsion” Proposal
Trump’s video comes amid widespread condemnation of his proposed mass displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. The Palestinian Authority (PA) has denounced the idea as a “serious violation of international law.”
PA Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen firmly rejected the plan, stating:
“We have tried displacement before, and it will not happen again.”
This reference alludes to the Nakba (1948 Palestinian exodus) during the Arab-Israeli war, which saw hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced.
Trump’s Stance: “I’m Just Recommending It”
While the plan has received strong pushback from Egyptian and Jordanian leaders, Trump has maintained that it remains the best course of action. Speaking to Fox News last Friday, he said:
“The way to do it is my plan. I think that’s the plan that really works. But I’m not forcing it. I’m just going to sit back and recommend it.”
Unanswered Questions, Ongoing Reactions
As the video ends with Trump and Netanyahu sipping drinks on a beach, the global response remains heated. CNN has reached out to the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, and the White House for comment and clarification.
Whether Trump’s AI-generated video is merely satirical political propaganda or a genuine proposal remains uncertain. However, the ethical and geopolitical implications of such messaging continue to fuel international debate.
