Fortnite’s latest season launches Friday — and it’s going full Star Wars. Epic Games has unveiled sweeping updates tied to the beloved sci-fi saga, including new island locations, iconic weapons, playable characters, vehicles, and powerful Force abilities.

Announced in a detailed blog post, the update introduces a Star Wars takeover of the Fortnite island. Key new points of interest include a First Order base, a Resistance camp complete with X-Wings, a smuggler’s outpost called Enclave, and a dedicated arena featuring Darth Vader Samurai — a new, in-game skin that’s already gaining buzz.

These locations won’t just be eye candy. Players will be able to pilot X-Wings and earn rewards like Darth Vader’s red lightsaber and throwable Force powers by defeating him in battle.

In a first for the game, Force powers will play a central role. Holograms of Rey and Emperor Palpatine are scattered across the island, granting Force push and Force lightning powers respectively. Palpatine himself will also be available as a playable skin, alongside other unlockable characters like Poe Dameron and General Grievous, through the season’s Battle Pass.

Epic Games promises evolving gameplay throughout the season. Future updates will add more Star Wars characters and interactive elements — including the chance to use a Star Destroyer’s turbolaser to attack other players. A major in-game live event is scheduled for June 7, where players will “take the fight to Emperor Palpatine.”

Among the most surprising reveals is the debut of Darth Jar Jar, a longtime fan-fiction legend that’s now officially joining Fortnite’s Star Wars canon.

This crossover builds on Fortnite’s history with the Star Wars franchise, which has included numerous skins and exclusive film content, like the premiere of a Rise of Skywalker clip in 2019. In tandem with the new season, Epic and Disney are offering players a free Stormtrooper outfit for linking their Epic and MyDisney accounts — a move the companies describe as the “first step” toward a broader shared universe.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of the Force or a Fortnite regular looking for fresh gameplay, this season promises to be one of the most expansive — and galactic — yet.
