The sixth edition of the Lagos Young Entrepreneur Awards (Layeawards) is set to take place this September, aiming to celebrate and spotlight exceptional young entrepreneurs whose innovative ventures are shaping Lagos State’s dynamic economic landscape.
Organised by A List Events and Entertainment Company, the prestigious awards ceremony is designed to recognise rising business leaders and reinforce entrepreneurship’s role in driving Lagos’s emergence as the fifth-largest economy in Africa.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the organisers outlined a series of events lined up for this year’s edition, including mentorship sessions, keynote lectures, a pageant, the launch of the official event magazine, and entertainment from top Nigerian artists and comedians. The highlight of the event will be the presentation of awards across various categories.
Speaking on the significance of the platform, Oluwanisola Ashifat, Chief Executive Officer and Creative Director of Layeawards, said the initiative has become a respected avenue for promoting youth-led innovation and enhancing brand visibility for individuals and corporate entities.
“Layeawards has, over the years, gained the recognition necessary to give both individuals and corporate brands more hype, as the event packages offer varieties of opportunities to reach out to target markets in historical and unlimited ways,”
— Oluwanisola Ashifat, CEO, Layeawards
Ashifat added that this year’s event would also focus on public education and awareness, emphasising the awards’ objectives, the credibility of past and future winners, and the transparency of the nomination and selection process.
The organisers are seeking collaborations with government agencies, non-governmental organisations, corporate institutions, and high-net-worth individuals to sponsor and support the awards.
Awards will be presented in multiple categories, with special honorary recognitions for outstanding philanthropists and impactful corporate brands. Ashifat urged the public to submit nominations for **high-profile young entrepreneurs—CEOs, founders, and managing directors under 50—**who are making notable contributions to Lagos’s business ecosystem.
“If you have been inspired by a young, enterprising trailblazer, we invite you to nominate your ideal entrepreneur of the year in any of our categories,”
— Ashifat
Nominations are currently open and will close on July 15, with organisers promising a fair, credible, and inclusive selection process that reflects the integrity of the awards.
The Lagos Young Entrepreneur Awards continues to serve as a powerful platform for amplifying youth entrepreneurship, nurturing innovation, and celebrating the bold spirit of Lagos’s next generation of business leaders.
