In a significant move to tackle identity-related crimes in Nigeria, private security company Myk Crime Control Services has unveiled Nijamia, a national digital verification platform designed to combat identity fraud, curb impersonation, and promote transparency.
Described as Nigeria’s first Integrity Verification Database, the Nijamia platform enables individuals and organisations with proven credibility to be verified and issued a unique Integrity ID — a digital badge linked to their authenticated profile.
Chief Executive Officer Oshunmakinde Adedayo, a globally recognised private investigator and security consultant, led the development of the platform alongside a 15-member team of experts in cybersecurity, risk assessment, and private investigation.
“Our goal with Nijamia is simple: to protect trust,” Oshunmakinde stated on Sunday. “In a world where identities are constantly faked and reputations easily manipulated, we must build a system that helps the honest stand out and the dishonest be exposed.”
The platform offers a suite of security tools, including:
- Background verification for recruitment and partnerships,
- Identity validation for organisations and individuals,
- Real-time authentication for government agencies and the public,
- Fraud protection features targeting impersonation, employment fraud, romance scams, and identity theft.
According to Myk Crime Control Services, Nijamia arrives at a crucial time, with digital fraud and social engineering crimes escalating across Nigeria and the African continent. The system is positioned as a proactive response to both national and global concerns surrounding digital identity and security.
The official launch of Nijamia is set for August 13, 2025, in Lagos, with hybrid participation expected from both local and international stakeholders. Target users include private citizens, corporations, government agencies, NGOs, educational institutions, and security organisations.
The initiative is backed by United Protective Agency, Inc., a U.S.-based security firm with global reach and affiliations including INTERPOL. The firm specialises in investigative solutions, cybersecurity, and enterprise risk management.
Calling for widespread collaboration, Oshunmakinde urged civil society organisations, media houses, security stakeholders, and corporate entities to support the platform’s mission of creating a more trustworthy and fraud-resistant society.
“The success of Nijamia lies in our collective will to uphold integrity and embrace tools that make accountability possible,” he said.
