Forvis Mazars, a global advisory and audit firm, has marked its 50th anniversary with a milestone achievement of $50 billion in cumulative transactions, reflecting decades of growth from humble beginnings in Nigeria to international prominence.
Speaking at the firm’s golden jubilee celebration held in Lagos over the weekend, Uhabia Ojike, Managing Partner and Nigeria Lead for Forvis Mazars, traced the company’s journey from its establishment in 1975 as Ojike, Okechukwu & Co. to its current standing as a key player in the global financial services industry.
“We are honoured to celebrate this milestone with our people, clients, and communities,” Ojike said. “Fifty years of service reflect our passion, purpose, and drive for sustainable growth. As we look to the future, we carry the same values that brought us this far.”
He noted that the firm had evolved over time—first becoming Ojike & Partners, then joining the Mazars Integrated Partnership in 2019. In 2024, the firm reached a significant milestone by becoming part of the Forvis Mazars network, a historic merger between US-based Forvis and European-based Mazars. This union strengthened its global footprint, particularly in the U.S. market.
Despite these transformations, Ojike stressed that the firm’s mission remained consistent: to act in the public interest and deliver long-term value for future generations.
Senior Partner Peter Nwofia echoed these sentiments, highlighting the firm’s survival in Nigeria’s challenging business landscape as a testament to its resilience and innovation.
“In Nigeria, most companies don’t make it past 10 years,” Nwofia said. “Reaching 50 is a celebration of our resilience. Competing with the Big Four has not been easy, but our growth proves our strength.”
He outlined the firm’s strategic evolution, including its 2016 rebrand, the 2019 integration with Mazars, and the 2024 formation of the dual-member Forvis Mazars network. “This unique structure unites powerful firms across continents and gives us stronger positioning, especially in the U.S.,” he added.
Nwofia emphasized that the firm’s success is rooted in core values—excellence, integrity, and entrepreneurship. “We don’t wait for business; we go to the market. We’re nimble and responsive, and that has made all the difference.”
He also underscored the firm’s youth-focused and inclusive culture. “We have a young team with an average age of 26, and we keep our hierarchy flat. Everyone is respected, from the gate to the boardroom.”
Looking ahead, Nwofia projected that Forvis Mazars aims to become Nigeria’s undisputed fifth-largest accounting firm by 2028.
Adams Osamudiame, lead of the firm’s assurance and financial advisory units, reinforced that its commitment to values such as longevity, quality, and trust continues to guide operations.
“Profit matters, but our impact matters more,” he said. “We are driven by our focus on people, clients, and the broader community.”
Longtime client Edward Nguyen praised the firm’s evolution, calling it a “remarkable journey.”
“Surviving 50 years and evolving from a local to an international brand is a serious achievement,” Nguyen said. “With their current momentum, I can see them joining Nigeria’s top five audit firms very soon.”
With this golden milestone, Forvis Mazars reaffirms its position as a forward-looking, values-driven player in the global advisory and auditing landscape.
