As anticipation builds for Apple’s next flagship smartphone, a new leak has revealed what could be one of the most radical aesthetic shifts in the iPhone Pro series to date.
According to reliable leaker Sonny Dickson, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could be offered in an unexpected new colour: orange — a dramatic departure from Apple’s traditional muted Pro palette of Space Grey, Silver, and Graphite.
Shared via X (formerly Twitter), images of dummy units show the devices in black, white, dark blue, and the eye-catching orange, which appears to be the boldest and most unconventional choice ever for the premium iPhone line. The potential addition has sparked speculation that Apple is aiming to inject more personality into its Pro models — perhaps to broaden its appeal to a younger or more style-conscious audience.
Horizontal Camera Bar Debut?
Beyond colour, the dummy models also showcase what might be the most significant design change since the iPhone 11: a horizontal rear camera bar replacing the now-familiar square module. This design would align the iPhone more closely with recent trends seen in flagship Android devices like the Google Pixel and some Samsung Galaxy models.

Hardware upgrades reportedly include:
- A 48-megapixel telephoto lens (up from 12MP),
- An improved ultrawide sensor,
- A 24MP front-facing camera, and
- A faster next-gen chipset likely based on Apple’s M4 architecture.
Lineup and Colours
The broader iPhone 17 lineup is also rumoured to feature bold colour choices:
- Standard iPhone 17: Light Blue, Purple, Steel Gray, and more
- iPhone 17 Air: Light Gold and White
Unfortunately, the Air — believed to be the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever produced — may not come in orange, despite the buzz surrounding the Pro variant.
Release Date and Expectations
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series between September 8 and 12, 2025, with the official keynote likely to confirm final specs, pricing, and colour options.
If these leaks prove accurate, Apple may be signaling a stylistic shift in the Pro series, moving beyond its conservative roots to embrace a more playful and expressive identity. Whether that’s to capture new market segments or simply keep pace with design trends remains to be seen.
