Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company, has posted a record-breaking quarter, surpassing $100 billion in revenue for the first time a landmark moment that underscores the tech giant’s rapid transformation in the era of artificial intelligence.
Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai attributed the milestone to Alphabet’s deep investments in generative AI and the strong performance of its diverse business segments, including Google Cloud, YouTube, and subscription services.
“This was a terrific quarter for Alphabet, driven by double-digit growth across every major part of our business. We’re seeing AI now driving real business results across the company,” Pichai said during the Q3 earnings call.
Alphabet’s quarterly revenue has doubled in just five years from $50 billion to $100 billion highlighting the company’s accelerating growth as it enters what Pichai called the “generative AI era.”
At the core of this transformation are Alphabet’s Gemini AI models, which now process over seven billion tokens per minute through direct API use. The Gemini app boasts more than 650 million monthly active users, with user queries tripling compared to the previous quarter.
The company’s cloud business also recorded impressive growth, with AI-related demand serving as a major catalyst. Alphabet’s cloud backlog surged 46 per cent quarter-on-quarter to $155 billion, driven by growing enterprise adoption of AI solutions.
“Our complete enterprise AI product portfolio is accelerating growth in revenue, operating margins, and backlog,” Pichai noted, adding that the company is signing new Google Cloud Platform customers 34 per cent faster year-on-year, while securing more $1 billion-plus deals than in the past two years combined.
Currently, over 70 per cent of Google Cloud customers leverage AI-powered products, including major global brands like Banco BV, Best Buy, and FairPrice Group.
Alphabet’s consumer subscription services also showed strong performance, with the company surpassing 300 million paid subscribers, led by Google One and YouTube Premium.
Reaffirming Alphabet’s long-term focus, Pichai said the company remains committed to “building for scale and sustainability.”
“Our momentum is strong, and we’re shipping at speed,” he added.
