Chams Holding Company Plc has announced the creation of a new subsidiary, ChamsCorp Plc, signaling its entry into artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and data centre development, according to a regulatory filing on Monday.
ChamsCorp will focus on digital device manufacturing, infrastructure development, AI systems, and the design and operation of data centres. The move marks a strategic pivot for Chams, one of Nigeria’s oldest indigenous technology companies, as it seeks to transition from a legacy payments and identity infrastructure provider into a key player in foundational digital infrastructure.
By building AI and data centre capabilities, Chams aims to move up the value chain, providing the compute, storage, and intelligence systems that will underpin enterprise platforms, digital services, and national infrastructure. Nigeria’s data centre market is projected to reach $782.82 million by 2031, according to Mordor Intelligence.
The subsidiary will be led by Olufemi Oyenuga, who assumed leadership on February 1, 2026. Details regarding operational strategy and investment scope remain limited, though Chams has indicated that further updates will follow as developments occur.
With ChamsCorp, Chams Holding now operates five subsidiaries, expanding its footprint beyond payments and identity solutions into sectors that are increasingly central to Africa’s digital economy.
