The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, received a total compensation of about $3.4 million (₦4.69 billion) in 2025, marking a significant increase in his earnings compared to the previous year.
According to MTN Group’s 2025 full-year financial report, Toriola’s total pay rose by 61.2%, making it his highest annual compensation since he assumed leadership of MTN Nigeria in 2021.
His earnings package included R17.9 million in base salary and benefits (about $1.07 million), R15.18 million in short-term incentives ($908,571), and R23.9 million in long-term incentive vesting ($1.43 million).
The report attributed the increase to MTN Group’s strong financial performance in 2025, alongside an improved share price, which boosted both bonus payouts and equity-based rewards.
Short-term incentives were reportedly tied 70% to company performance and 30% to team performance, while long-term incentives were linked to strategic and sustainability targets, vesting over a three-year period.
MTN also noted that share-based payouts were influenced by a 62% rise in share value over the review period, contributing to higher executive compensation.
The development reflects a strong financial year for MTN Group and increased shareholder returns across its operations.
